July 24, 1897:  Happy Birthday Amelia Earhart!

American aviation pioneer Amelia Earhart was born on this day 115 years ago in Kansas.

In her lifetime, she set numerous flying records, wrote best-selling books about her experiences, and was involved in equal rights movements for women before disappearing over the Pacific Ocean at the age of 39.
