Jan. 24, 1964: Winston Churchill Passes Away On this day in 1964, Winston Churchill died at the age of 90 in his home in London. Churchill had suffered a stroke 15 days earlier. He was buried near Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire, England. The following year, Queen Elizabeth II dedicated a marble memorial to Churchill at Westminster Abbey.
