September 15, 1981  Sandra Day O’Connor Appointed to Supreme Court On this day in 1981, Sandra Day O’Connor became the first female justice of the Supreme Court of the United States. Sandra Day O’Connor Appointed to Supreme Court

On this day in 1981, Sandra Day O’Connor became the first female justice of the Supreme Court of the United States. She was unanimously approved by the Senate Judiciary Committee and appointed by Ronald Reagan.
