May 16, 1770: Marie Antoinette Marries Louis Auguste
On this day in 1770, Archduchess of Austria Marie Antoinette married Dauphin of France Louis Auguste in an effort to preserve the alliance between France and Austria.
Five years later, 20-year old Louis-Auguste was crowned King Louis XVI.
