April 5, 1859: Charles Darwin Submits The Origin of Species for PublicationOn this day in 1859, Charles Darwin submitted the first three chapters of his groundbreaking book, The Origin of Species, to his publishers. 
In 2009, NOVA and National Geographic Television presented a two-hour drama on the crisis that compelled Darwin to publish his theory of evolution. You can watch “Darwin’s Darkest Hour” here.
By the time Darwin published The Origin of Species, he was already a published scientist.
