NOVEMBER 30: MARK TWAIN BORN, 1835
On this day in 1835, author and humorist Mark Twain was born.
Last year, the PBS NewsHour shared with viewers a previously unpublished essay by the American literary giant.

The 10-page handwritten essay’s subject: the journalistic interview. In the course of Twain’s career, he was frequently interviewed by reporters. This essay was written in either 1889 or 1890, a time that coincided with the rise of “yellow journalism.”
Head on over to the NewsHour site for the essay in its entirety.
